Author Guidelines
1. Scope of Manuscripts
The National Journal of Community Service accepts manuscripts focusing on community service activities that are applicative, solution-oriented, and provide direct impacts on society. Types of manuscripts eligible for publication include community service articles, case studies on community empowerment program implementation, articles based on appropriate technology application, and articles developing community empowerment models or methods.
Each submitted manuscript must clearly demonstrate actual problems faced by the community, provide systematically implemented solutions, and include measurable impacts or outputs as indicators of the success of the community service activities.
2. Language
Manuscripts should be written in proper Indonesian in accordance with PUEBI guidelines as the primary language, or in clear, systematic, and communicative academic English.
3. General Writing Format
Submitted manuscripts should range between 6 and 15 pages, including tables, figures, and references. Margins should be set at 2.5 cm for the top and 2 cm for the left, right, and bottom sides. Manuscripts should use 1.15 line spacing with Times New Roman font size 11 pt.
The manuscript must be prepared in Microsoft Word (.docx) format and follow the official journal template provided by the journal.
4. Article Structure (Community Service Articles)
The article structure should reflect the flow of the community service activities:
Title
Maximum 20 words, specific, and reflective of the community service activity.
Author Names and Affiliations
Written without academic titles and accompanied by the corresponding author’s email address.
Abstract (Indonesian & English)
The abstract should be written in a single paragraph of 150–250 words containing a brief background, objectives, implementation methods, as well as the results and impacts achieved from the community service activity.
Keywords
Consist of 5 words or phrases separated by semicolons (;).
Introduction
The introduction should contain a situational analysis describing the conditions and problems faced by the partners clearly and contextually. It should also include a brief review of relevant literature as a theoretical foundation and justification for the urgency of the activity. This section ends with specific and focused objectives of the community service activity.
Implementation Methods
This section explains in detail the location and partners involved in the community service program. It also describes the stages of activities carried out, starting from planning, implementation, to evaluation. Authors should explain the approaches used, such as training, mentoring, technology implementation, or other relevant methods.
Results and Discussion
This section presents a systematic description of the implementation of activities, including the stages conducted and field conditions. It also contains the achieved results, which may be presented in the form of data, photographs, graphs, or tables as empirical evidence. The discussion further elaborates on the impacts of the activities on the community, both quantitatively and qualitatively, along with an evaluation of the program’s success level.
Conclusion
The conclusion contains a summary of the main results of the implemented community service activities, including achievements, benefits for society, and implications of the program. This section may also include recommendations or suggestions for future program development.
Acknowledgments (Optional)
Acknowledgments are addressed to supporting parties, sponsors, or partners who contributed to the implementation of the activities or the preparation of the article. This section is limited to a maximum of 100 words and should be concise, clear, and proportional.
References
All references used in the manuscript must be cited completely and consistently without exception. Authors must also ensure that all references can be clearly traced through DOI, URL, or valid bibliographic information to facilitate verification and tracking by readers and editors.
5. Citation and Reference Style
Citations and references must follow the latest edition of the American Psychological Association (APA Style). The manuscript should contain at least 10–15 references, with a minimum of 70% derived from scientific journal articles.
Authors are encouraged to use relevant and up-to-date references, especially those published within the last 5–10 years. To maintain consistency and facilitate citation management, authors are recommended to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.
6. Originality and Ethics
Submitted manuscripts must be original works that have not been previously published and are not under review in other journals. Each manuscript will be checked for similarity using plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin. The maximum permitted similarity index is ≤ 20%.
7. Manuscript Submission Process
Manuscripts must be submitted through the Open Journal Systems (OJS), where authors are required to register before submission. The submission and publication process follows the established stages, namely submission, review, revision, and publication.
8. Publication Fee (APC)
The National Journal of Community Service charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) of IDR 50,000 (fifty thousand rupiahs) for each accepted article to support the editorial and publication process.
9. Outputs and Impact (Distinctive Feature of Community Service Journals)
Each submitted article must include documentation of activities in the form of photographs or images as evidence of field implementation. In addition, the article must present measurable indicators of success, such as increased knowledge, productivity, income, or other relevant aspects.
Authors are also expected to explain the sustainability potential of the program as part of ensuring long-term impacts on society.
Submission Preparation Checklist
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
- This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
- This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
- All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
- All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
- Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
